Dave at Retroford is extremely knowledgeable and capable, with the attention to detail that I want for my classics. He is always ready with advice and help, and goes beyond the call of duty to ensure that fellow Ford enthusiasts have the information they need.
The equipment and kits supplied by Retroford are of the highest quality, and always fit extremely well with excellent tolerances – better than most pattern parts I have bought for other cars. The aesthetics are always superb, too.
Retroford is always my first port of call for any parts or advice: it makes owning a classic Ford a lot more pleasurable.

In my role as a motoring journalist with Practical Performance Car magazine I have often worked with Dave Colledge at Retroford on various features, and I can honestly say his knowledge, workmanship and professionalism are of the highest order.
I have also used his products on my own cars and many magazine project cars, and the quality is always excellent.

I’ve fitted both a Zetec and later ST170 into my Mk2 escort using Retroford’s conversion parts and have found them to be of excellent quality and, more importantly, they fit without fettling – unlike many other ‘specialists’ parts.
Dave’s ability to come up with solutions using ‘old school’ engineering techniques to tackle the conversion to modern powerplants and running gear is very impressive and of consistently good quality.
Dave is also on hand to answer any questions and provide technical and practical advice even when confronted with the stupidest of questions (and there have been many!).
If you are contemplating doing a conversion then get stuck in – the quality of Retroford products and the backup advice takes the hard work and guesswork out of the installation.
You wont be disappointed with the outcome.
Richard Roberts, Mk2 Escort fitted with Focus ST170 engine
Many years ago I set about converting my pre-airflow Cortina to accept Zetec power, as I had heard of a few conversions, but didn’t really know were to start as regards fitting it.
I had heard about Retroford from a friend who supplied cables to the firm. I first met Dave Colledge, the proprietor, at Donnington Ford Day, where I discovered the Zetec conversion was really quite easy and very straightforward!
His very nice Escort estate was on show, fitted with a 2.0 silver-top and it looked like it had just rolled out of the shop. I had to have one!
I set about ‘bidding’ Dave to let me have numerous parts, such as sump, water rail, mounts etc at a very reasonable price!
A deal was struck and the installation was completed within a matter of days.
My particular engine runs Hayabusa TBs, a Megasquirt and, of course, the now-legendary Retroford Zetec fitting kit. A very recent addition is one of Dave’s very nice tubular manifolds.
My car is currently making 240bhp with extreme on-road performance to go with it too! It has proved extremely reliable and is ‘off the key’ every time I use it.
Overall, my experience of Retroford and Dave Colledge has been second to none. The Retroford team really know their stuff, and Dave in particular has been extremely helpful and has become a personal friend too.
If you’re thinking of fitting a Zetec or Duratec, I highly recommend Retroford.

Having stumbled across my ‘barn find’ two-door Mk2 Escort in 2009 I was directed towards Retroford of Corby to supply the necessary mechanical parts for a full two-litre Zetec/Type 9 conversion including upgrades to fuelling system, brakes and drivetrain.
Thanks in no small way to Dave College at Retroford the car is now taking shape. Even given the fact that my bank manager thinks I have shares in Retroford (!), Dave has been incredibly helpful, with ready help and advice being just a phone call away. In my experience it’s unusual nowadays to find someone who is genuinely interested in customers’ projects and not just interested in selling the parts.
All the items I have purchased, without exception, have been of top quality, suggesting that considerable time and effort has been spent by Dave in the development stages prior to ‘signing off’ parts for retail sale.
All in all, the Retroford brand comes highly recommended!
