This replacement Lucas inertia (Bendix) starter motor is suitable for a wide range of classic Ford models fitted with the standard 110-tooth flywheel ring gear.
Typical applications include:
- Ford Anglia 105E
- Ford Corsair
- Mk1 Cortina
- Mk2 Cortina
- Lotus Cortina
- Early Mk1 Escort
- Early Ford Capri (Crossflow)
The 9-tooth, 2-hole fixing starter is typically the earlier Lucas design, most commonly found on Anglias, Corsairs, Mk1 Cortinas and early Mk1 Escorts.
Important: Due to the age of these vehicles, many have had replacement engines, gearboxes and starter motors fitted over the years. It is therefore quite common to find either a 2-hole or 3-hole fixing starter, and either a 9-tooth or 10-tooth pinion, regardless of what the vehicle originally left the factory with.
Please note: 9-tooth and 10-tooth starter motors are interchangeable with each other, as both were originally used with 110-tooth ring gears. Although the pinion tooth count differs, the pinion gear diameter and engagement position are designed so that both starters mesh correctly with the same 110-tooth ring gear, allowing either type to be used as a direct replacement in the correct application.
