Most after-market wheel studs have an extended shoulder meaning that the thread does not go all the way down to the base of the hub. Fitting wheels using incorrect studs means the wheel nuts go tight before the wheel is secured against the mounting face. The Retroford OE type wheel studs have a reduced shoulder allowing for correct fitment.
